Rippleton Roadsters Child Care & Satellite Program is a community based, non-profit centre. Parents of children attending the Centre are members of the Corporation. In addition, parents and community members volunteer to sit on the Board and direct the financial, personnel, and policy activities of the program. IN ORDER TO OPERATE THIS CHILD CARE CENTRE, WE MUST HAVE A BOARD OF DIRECTORS comprised of a minimum of 9 parent volunteers.
Each year, the membership of the Child Care is invited to volunteer to sit on the Board of Directors for the new year (until the next Annual General Meeting). The officers of the Board of Directors consist of a President (chairperson), Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, other Members at Large sit on the Board and contribute through committee work. The Executive Director of the Child Care attends the Board Meetings and reports on the operation of the program.
Each fall, all Members of the Corporation (parents) will receive an information package regarding the Annual General Meeting. Parent members, who are interested in becoming actively involved on the Board of Directors, are invited to submit a Bio expressing interest as a volunteer Board Member; we encourage diversity and welcome you to put your name forward with your areas of expertise that are of value to the our child care center.
Volunteer members are officially nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting each fall. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the Members to the Corporation, have membership approval of the audit of the Centre and to elect the Slate of Directors of the Corporation for the current year.
The By-laws for the corporation state that there must be a two-third (2/3) majority of the membership present to conduct the meeting. If we don’t have the required attendance in person, then we cannot elect a Board of Directors. Therefore, attendance at this meeting is mandatory. If there is no Board of Directors, then the Child Care Centre cannot operate.
